Hauppauge, NY – June 20, 2023 – When Healthcare Facilities Management (HFM) magazine needed a cover photo and quote for their cover story about modular construction in healthcare, who did they turn to? Axis Construction and John Buongiorno, of course!
The module you see suspended in mid-air on the front cover of the June 2023 HFM issue is just 1 of more than 59 modules from the Gotham Health Medical Center modular project on Staten Island, NY. (In 2019, the project won both “Best in Show” and “1st Place, Permanent Modular – Healthcare” during the Awards of Distinction competition at the modular industry’s biggest event, the World of Modular Annual Conference & Tradeshow.)
However, John’s contribution to the June 2023 HFM article involves Axis Construction’s current modular expansion for Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. In the “Simplifying project logistics with the right planning” highlight section on page 21, Buongiorno talks about planning transportation routes with AHJs, establishing staging areas, and coordinating with the crane crew to execute the installation of the modular 7,000 SF addition. Because of Axis Construction’s extensive experience in modular healthcare and careful planning, all this complex logistical orchestration will be completed in less than 4 days, minimizing the impact of construction at the dense hospital campus.
