Demolishing an old dilapidated shopping center and constructing in its place a brand new state-of-the-art super store in a mere 29 weeks was the challenge put forth to Axis Construction Corp. The Axis Construction team completed the project in just 25 weeks-four weeks ahead of schedule-despite contending with three to four feet of frozen ground on site.

Construction entailed the complete demolition of the shopping center, including removal of the foundations, utilities, drainage structures, and sanitary systems. The on-site soil conditions were unsuitable for building. By recycling the concrete from the old foundations, slabs, curbs, and structures and mixing it with the unsuitable material on site, the Axis Construction team was able to minimize some of the costs.

The supermarket was built adjacent to neighborhood homes. The exterior architecture was designed specifically to fit into the surrounding community. Split-face and ground face blocks were used, along with a standing seam roof and EIFS (Exterior Insulation and FInish Systems) accents to give the structure a more classic feel. A very detailed landscaping plan was designed and implemented to provide a setting in which the surrounding homes were buffered from the noise of traffic and delivery trucks.
